PIMLLICO - Jerry and Ronald Frankel's Chinglish ran down the pacesetters through the stretch to win $100,000 James W. Murphy Stakes.
Covering the mile distance across the turf in 1:40.05 under John Velaqquez, Chinglish beat Humble and Hungry by 2 3/4 lengths.
Velazquez said that “He broke good and got good position. He handled it pretty well. When I asked him to go, he responded. It was perfect. I got him in the clear and he clicked in pretty good.”
Master Dunker rallied from far back to take third and early pacesetter Joes Blazing Aaron, the 7-5 favorite ridden by Julien Leparoux, faded to fourth.
Chinglish who is trained by Mark Hennig paid $19.60.
The Murphy Stakes was the first added-money stakes appearance for the son of War Front.
