INDIANAPOLIS -

Baltimore Ravens center Matt Birk was named the Walter Payton Man of the Year on Saturday making him the first Baltimore player to win the award since Johnny Unitas back in 1970.

The award recognizes a player's off-the-field community service and his on-field excellence.  In his 14th NFL season, Birk helped running back Ray Rice score a franchise-record 15 total touchdowns and rush for 1,364 yards and 2,068 total yards from scrimmage.

Birk says that he is honored and truly humbled to receive the award. He will be honored on the field in Indianapolis by NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell and Jarrett and Brittney Payton, Walter Payton's Children, before the kickoff of Super Bowl XLVI
