OWINGS MILLS, Md. -

Shortly after the Ravens promoted linebacker coach Dean Pees to defensive coordinator, they hire his replacement.

Thursday morning, Coach John Harbaugh announced they have hired Don Martindale as their new linebackers coach.

Martindale, 49, has 18 years of coaching experience between the NFL and collegiate levels. Harbaugh says "he's known for his hard work, intelligence and thorough teaching, and his players have always responded well to his coaching."

He coached for Western Kentucky under Jon's father Jack from 2001-2003 and most recently was defensive coordinator for the Denver Broncos in 2010.
