BALTIMORE -

It’s been 15 years since this city has seen playoff baseball, but finally it looks like it’s coming back.

After splitting the day-night double header on Monday with the Toronto Blue Jays the O’s have a 92% chance of reaching the playoffs.  That according to the website Coolstandings.com.

The addition of the second wild card spot this year definitely helps the team’s cause.  Instead of just battling for one of two possible playoff spots, they can reach the playoffs by nabbing any one of three possible spots.

The Orioles are just 1.5 games back from the Yankees for the lead in the AL East and they hold the first of two Wild Card spots.  The Oakland Athletics are currently in line for the second Wild Card berth, sitting 1.5 games behind the O’s.  Still lurking however are the Los Angeles Angels and Tampa Bay Rays, just 2 and 3 games behind the A’s respectively.

There are just eight games remaining before the season ends and we find out for certain if there will be October baseball in Baltimore.
