BALTIMORE, Md. - The streaking Baltimore Orioles continued their playoff push, blasting the visiting Boston Red Sox, 9-1, Friday night at Camden Yards.
The O's Ryan Flaherty led the onslaught against Boston, hitting his first career grand slam That was more than enough support for starting pitcher Chris Tillman, who gave up just one hit in eight innings -- a bunt single to leadoff hitter Scott Podsednik. Tillman then allowed only two walks the rest of the way, retiring the final 14 batters he faced, and the only run he allowed was unearned.
The Orioles still trail the first-place New York Yankees for the AL East Division pennant, but hold on to the first of two wildcard spots.
