BALTIMORE - Top prospect Manny Machado will make his major league debut for the Orioles Thursday night.

The team made the surprise announcement late Wednesday night.

Machado was the Orioles first round pick in 2010.  He was the third overall pick.

Machado is only 20 years old.  He spent most of the time in the minors playing shortstop.

But he's expected to start at 3B against the Royals.
