BALTIMORE (AP) - The Baltimore Orioles have placed outfielder Endy Chavez on the 15-day disabled list with a strained right hamstring.
The injury occurred Tuesday night in a game against the Pittsburgh Pirates, when Chavez was rounding first base and headed to second. The move is retroactive to June 13.
Signed as a free agent during the offseason, Chavez is batting .171 in 32 games and is on the DL for a second time. He was sidelined last month with a strained left oblique.
To fill his spot on the roster, Baltimore recalled infielder Steve Tolleson from Triple-A Norfolk. Tolleson was sent to Norfolk on Monday after hitting .237 in 12 games with the Orioles.
