BALTIMORE - The Orioles announced Wednesday the contracts of Dan Duquette and Buck Showalter would be extended through the next six years.

Duquette and Showalter will be with the team through the 2018 season.

Duquette, the organization's executive vice president of baseball operations, played an instrumental role in the acquirement of several impact players that made a difference in the team's success in 2012. Among those were Jason Hammel, Wei-Yin Chen and Nate McClouth.

Showalter, among other accomplishments, is obviously credited with leading the club to the 2012 American League Division Series.

On May 1, 2012, Showalter became the 58th manager in major league history to win 1,000 games when the Orioles defeated the Yankees. He enters the 2013 season ranked 49th all-time with 1,078 wins and is sixth among active managers.
