The Baltimore Orioles announced today that Jason Hammel will get the start against the Yankees' CC Sabathia.
Hammel, a 6-foot-6 right-hander had an 8-6 record for the Orioles during the regular season. Facing the Yankees, Hammel allowed seven runs and 18 hits in 66 at bats this season. His 2012 record against the Yankees is 0-1.
Hammel aggravated his knee in a game against Tampa in Baltimore on September 11. Tonight's game will be his first on the mound since then.
For the Yankees, Sabathia had a 7-4 regular season record , with two of those losses delivered via the Orioles.
Game time is 6 p.m. The Orioles have announced that Perry Hall High School shooting victim Daniel Borowy and the guidance counselor credited with saving lives, Jesse Wasmer, will be on the mound for the first pitch .
