BONN, Germany - City officials in Bonn, Germany made around $20,000 in 2011 for installing 'sex meters' for street prostitutes to pay before they start working.
It's an automated pay station, similar to parking pay station seen in U.S. cities.
Under the current program, it forces prostitutes put money in the meters in order for them to receive a ticket. Bonn became the first city in Germany to begin this program. Cities throughout Germany collect taxes from prostitutes who try and solicit customers from the streets.
According to a report in The Huffington Post, taxes paid by prostitutes in brothels and on the street in Germany, collected around $326,000 last year.
