BALTIMORE - There has been some controversy over Question 6. Question 6 tackles the issue of Same Sex Marriage.
Governor Martin O'Malley signed the Religious Freedom and Civil Marriage Protection Act in March. The law's effective date was pushed to January.
It gave opponents time to petition the question on to the November Ballot. A vote for the landmark law would allow it to go into effect and allow same sex couples to get married.
Maryland would also be the 7th state in addition to Washington, DC to approve Same Sex Marriage.
This law does not force clergy to perform marriage ceremonies against their religious beliefs.
Religious organizations are also not required to participate in these ceremonies if they object.
On Tuesday Marylanders head to the polls for Election Day.
