FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. - An 83-year-old woman swimming in Lake Barcroft in Fairfax County, Va. about 6:00 p.m. last night suddenly encountered a vicious beaver.
The beaver approached Lillian Peterson and latched onto her with its teeth.
"Never in the world did I expect anything like this," said Lillian.
Two fisherman heard Lillian's screams and came to help her. All the while, the beaver never lost it's grip on Lillian, until they were on shore and one of the fisherman hit it with a plank.
Lillian is 83, but she needed every bit of strength to stay afloat while under attack by the rabid animal.
Lillian almost lost her thumb and suffered serious injuries to her arm and leg, but is expected to survive.
Lillian says she will never go swimming in Lake Barcroft again.
