McHENRY, Md. (AP) -

The Garrett County sheriff's office says a skier has been killed in an accident at the Wisp ski resort.

The sheriff's office says 40-year-old James Jung-Jin Park of Rockville lost control and ran into trees while skiing Saturday morning with two friends. Authorities say the Rockville man was pronounced dead at Garrett County Memorial Hospital.

The sheriff's office says the accident occurred on a ski-run known as the Squirrel Cage.

Wisp is Maryland's only ski resort. The resort announced in December that it had emerged from bankruptcy protection under a new management firm. The previous owners filed for bankruptcy protection after defaulting on loans to build a golf course community near the ski hill. That project was sold to another party during bankruptcy proceedings.
