Sharpsburg man charged with firearms violations

HAGERSTOWN, Md. (AP) -
Maryland State Police have charged a Sharpsburg man with firearms violations.
Police said Friday that Terry A. Porter has been charged with seven counts of possession of a rifle or shotgun when prohibited. He also has been charged with seven counts of possession of a firearm when prohibited.
Authorities say Porter voluntarily came to the Maryland State Police Hagerstown Barrack on Friday morning. Porter and his attorney met with investigators.
Investigators obtained a rifle and shotgun at his home on Friday. That's in addition to two rifles and three shotguns recovered during a search Thursday night.
Police say Porter was taken to the Washington County central booking unit, where he is awaiting an appearance before a court commissioner.
