ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The Board of Public Works will be gathering to hear from officials around the state who come to make their annual pitches for more school funding.
The board, which consists of Gov. Martin O'Malley, Comptroller Peter Franchot and Treasurer Nancy Kopp, is meeting Wednesday in Annapolis.
The annual meeting is traditionally known as the "beg-a-thon," because school officials stream before the board for a long meeting to make requests. O'Malley, a Democrat, has been hoping people will start referring to it as the "hope-a-thon" instead.
