BALTIMORE (AP) - Public works officials are reminding Baltimore-area residents that swimming is banned at reservoirs and lakes.
Baltimore city has three raw-water reservoirs -- Prettyboy, Loch Raven and Liberty and three human-made lakes -- Druid Lake, Lake Montebello and Lake Ashburton.
The bodies of water supply drinking waters. While the reservoirs offer biking, hiking, bird watching, boating and fishing, swimming is banned.
Officials say temperatures in deep waters drop quickly, and there are drop-offs, hidden rocks and branches.
Those caught swimming can be fined and/or jailed.
