ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) - Prince George's County Executive Jack Johnson and his wife, who was recently elected to the County Council, have been charged in federal court with tampering with a witness and evidence relating to a federal offense.
Johnson and his wife, Leslie, were taken into custody on Friday. Both had an initial appearance in U.S. District Court on Friday afternoon.
According to a federal affidavit, they also have been charged with aiding and abetting.
Maryland U.S. Attorney Rod Rosenstein, FBI Special Agent in Charge Richard A. McFeely and Rebecca Sparkman of the Internal Revenue Service-Criminal Investigation have scheduled a news conference after the court appearances.
