LAUREL, Md. -
New information is out on the playground fires in Laurel. According to officials, the person who set the fires may also be responsible for several other fires in the area.
Laurel Police and the Fire Marshall say they’ve connected at least seven fires to the same person. Two of those fires were at Emancipation and Discovery Parks.
In all, the fires have caused $600,000 in damage, and now there is a $10,000 reward for information on the case.
“Crimes of arson in occupied buildings are our worst nightmare,” says Prince George’s County Fire Chief Marc Bashoor. “It is clear that these cowards are not afraid to take this step. We need the community’s help. We need the help in solving these fires.”
Anyone with information is asked to call 301-77-ARSON.
