LANDOVER, Md. - Police in Prince George's County are stepping up their presence in a half-dozen neighborhoods over the next two weeks.
The effort is part of what the department calls its Transforming Neighborhoods Initiative.
The initiative involves the deployment of specialized patrol officers and detectives at night and in the early morning in six neighborhoods: Langley Park, East Riverdale/Bladensburg, Suitland/Coral Hills, Kentland/Palmer Park, Hillcrest Heights/Marlow Heights and Glassmanor/Oxon Hill.
Major Joseph McCann, the commander of the department's special enforcement division, will discuss the initiative at 5:30 p.m. Saturday at police headquarters.
