Paramedic falls from overpass, dies

ALEXANDRIA, Va. (WMAR) - An Alexandria paramedic who fell from an overpass Wednesday evening has died from his injuries.

Officials say Joshua Weissman, 33, was on I-395 overpass responding to a car fire when he fell into the Four Mile Run Creek, about 20 feet below the interstate.

Weissman was rescued from the creek by firefighters and taken to MedStar where he died Thursday evening.

Weissman is a 7 year veteran of the Alexandria Fire Department and was hired in April 2006.
