HYATTSVILLE, Md. (WMAR) -
A Prince Georges County police officer is recovering after being shot in the leg outside of a nightclub early Saturday morning.
Officer Rachael Jacob was working part time at the Galaxy night club in Langley Park when an adult male and two females were removed from the club for disorderly conduct.
The three people that were kicked out of the club loaded into a white Honda. Prince Georges County Police say that the male suspect, Kelly Gilliss, who was the driver, reached through the passenger door window and began firing a handgun towards the entry of the club.
One of the rounds hit Officer Jacob in the leg, and officers returned fire.
The suspects sped off in the Honda, but were stopped just a few blocks away by police.
All three suspects were arrested, and the handgun was seized.

Officer Jacob is recovering after a surgery to remove the bullet from her leg. She is expected to be okay.
