ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) -- NAACP President Benjamin Jealous is scheduled to meet with Maryland Gov. Martin O'Malley to discuss death penalty repeal.

Jealous and Maryland NAACP State Conference President Gerald Stansbury are scheduled to meet with the governor in Annapolis on Thursday.

Jealous has spoken out in favor of repealing capital punishment, and O'Malley also supports repeal.

The governor led a repeal effort in 2009. However, compromise legislation was approved instead of full repeal. The compromise restricted the death penalty to murder cases with biological evidence such as DNA, videotaped evidence of a murder or a videotaped confession.
