Maryland air station settles hazardous waste violations

PATUXENT RIVER, Md. - The U.S. Navy has agreed to pay $38,500 to settle alleged hazardous waste violations at the Naval Air Station Patuxent River.
The Environmental Protection Agency made the announcement in a statement Tuesday.
The agency says the Navy was cited for a series of violations including failing to keep hazardous waste containers closed during storage and failing to properly maintain leak detection and spill prevention equipment.
The violations were found in 11 buildings at the air station.
