TOWSON, Md. (WMAR) - Towson Town Center opened its doors for a tax-free week, and shoppers can take advantage of this tax break on clothing, footwear, and other items under one-hundred dollars.

Retailers in the mall are not complaining.

“Certainly brings in extra traffic,” said Macy’s store manager Jain Trader.  “Our customer feels they deserve this tax break, and it does drive extra traffic into the store,” she said.

Some businesses are offering incentives to get people in the door – like scratch-off games.

A retired educator who taught school in Baltimore County was one of the winners.

“I got into line after power-walking for one hour my husband, said Carolyn Hubberman.  “We moved up got my card scratched it off and it said 500 dollar shopping at the mall. I screamed.  I was so excited,” she said.

The tax-free week may not be long, but it give Maryland families a chance to save some money.
