WASHINGTON - The Pentagon announced Saturday night that a Maryland marine died fighting in Afghanistan.
Military officials said Lance Cpl. Eugene C Mills, 21 of Laurel died June 22 while conducting combat operations in Helmand province, Afghanistan.
He was assigned to 1st Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Lejeune, N.C.
