ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) - The Maryland flag is being flown at half-staff around the state in honor of a sheriff's office sergeant.
Gov. Martin O'Malley ordered the flag flown at half-staff on Wednesday in honor of 43-year-old Sgt. Ian Loughran.
Loughran was a 16-year veteran of the Harford County Sheriff's Office. The office said that Loughran began to suffer the symptoms of a heart attack during the funeral services for another deputy on Sept. 12.
Loughran died at his home Sept. 13 sometime after midnight.
