BALTIMORE - The prison industry arm of the Maryland Division of Correction is hosting the National Correctional Industries Association's convention in Baltimore.

Maryland Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services Secretary Gary Maynard will speak Friday at the convention's opening ceremony. Division of Correction Commissioner Michael
Stouffer also will speak at the opening ceremony.

Maryland Correctional Industries is one of the top 10 prison industries in the nation. It employs about 2,000 inmates with total sales of more than $50 million in the last fiscal year.  The National Correctional Industries Association has members representing all 50 state correctional industry agencies, Federal Bureau of Prisons Industries, foreign correctional industries, and local jail industry programs. It also includes private sector companies that work in partnership with correctional industries.
