CHESTERTOWN, Md. (AP) - Maryland State Police say a man who tried to cross a highway on his riding mower was hit by a tractor-trailer.
It happened about 6:30 a.m. Monday in Chestertown. Troopers say 57-year-old George Hummer of Chestertown was driving his mower when he tried to cross Md. 290 just north of the Md. 544 intersection and was hit by a tractor-trailer driven by 55-year-old John Short Jr. of Millington.
WBOC-TV reports that Hummer was flown the Shock Trauma in Baltimore with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. Short was not injured.
The accident is under investigation.
