LEONARDTOWN, Md. -

A high speed chase that involved speeds over 100 miles per hour and gun shots ended with a Maryland man in police custody, police said.

St. Mary’s County police arrested Teddy Natel Ragan, 44, of Mechanicsville on numerous charges including, reckless driving, assault, and driving under the influence of alcohol.

Police said around 5:40 on Saturday afternoon, Ragan was clocked driving a white GMC pickup truck over 100 miles per hour on Route 5 in Leonardtown, Maryland. The posted speed limit on that stretch of road is 50 miles per hour.

Police pursued Ragan in a marked car, but he refused to stop, weaving in and out of traffic in an attempt to elude the authorities. At one point during the lengthy chase, Ragan tried to ram a police cruiser. That’s when two deputies fired their guns at the pick up truck.

The chase ended in the area of Route 5 and Charlotte Hill Road in Charlotte Hall, Maryland. Ragan was arrested and taken to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center.
