When you hit the road this weekend, you might notice a lot more police out there.

Starting Friday night, police throughout Maryland will on the roads looking for drunk drivers.

The project is called Saving our Loved Ones or SOLO. The goal is to make sure no one dies because of drinking and driving.

Police will go out and target areas that have had a lot of drunk driving arrests and alcohol related crashes.

These high risk zones will be targeted on Friday night starting at 9 through early Saturday morning.

The patrols will continue through the end of the year.

Maryland state police along with county officers are working together on the project.

They include Baltimore City, Baltimore County, Anne Arundel, Howard, and Frederick counties as well police in Ocean City.
