FREDERICK, Md. (WMAR) - Police in Frederick County believe that alcohol may have been a factor in a deadly pedestrian accident.

Just before 5:00 a.m. officers responded to Liberty Road in the area of Unionville Road in response of the accident.

It was determined that Kevin Stanley Williams, 21, was hit by a Volkswagen that was traveling west on Route 26. Prior to the collision Williams was found laying unconscious on the shoulder of Route 26 by a passer by who stopped to check on him.

When the car stopped, Williams awoke, quickly jumped to his feet and ran into the road where he was hit by the Volkswagen.

The investigation is on going, but police believe alcohol played a role in the collision.
