FREDERICK, Md. - The former pastor of a Montgomery County Baptist church is striking a plea deal in Frederick on charges he sexually abused a pre-teenage girl.
A Frederick County prosecutor say 74-year-old Joe Ivey of Walkersville will enter into the plea agreement Tuesday morning in Frederick County Circuit Court.
Assistant State's Attorney Tammy Leach says the deal will result in a conviction for second-degree sex offense.
She says the state will recommend a sentence of 20 years in prison with all but four years suspended.
Ivey was charged in September with having had sexual contact with the girl from January 2009 to December 2010. She was 10 to 11 years old.
Ivey has resigned as senior pastor of Barnesville Baptist Church.
