ANNAPOLIS, Md. (WMAR) - Flags around Maryland will fly at half-staff on Wednesday in honor of Marine Sgt. Julian Chase of Edgewater who was killed in combat on Memorial Day.
Governor Marin O'Malley has ordered the United States Flag and the Maryland State Flag flown at half-staff on June 20, from sunrise to sunset in memory of Sgt. Chase.
Sgt. Chase died on May 28 in Helmand Province, Afghanistan, in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
Chase joined the Marine Corps in September 2008. His service awards include the Purple Heart, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and Sea Service Deployment Ribbon.
