Five stabbed, one shot in huge club fight

GAITHERSBURG, Md. - Five  people were stabbed and one shot during a brawl believed to have started among a group of women at a Montgomery County night club Saturday night.

Police say over one hundred people were involved in the fight at the New Red Rock Café located at 385 Muddy Branch Road in Gaithersburg.

The café had advertised a rapper Karaoke night which drew a large young adult audience from Washington, D.C. and surrounding counties.

At around 1:30 Saturday police were called to the Red Rock Café for a report of a fight. When officers arrived they found approximately one hundred people fighting in the parking lot outside the establishment.

Police believe the fight began between female patrons inside the Café.  Male patrons joined in and the assault escalated to the outside parking lot.  The initial motive for the fight remains under investigation.

Responding and back-up officers brought the situation under control, but witnesses and participants at the scene were uncooperative in providing any suspect information.  At this point in the investigation police have no suspects and no motive for the fight.

A man from Washington, D.C. suffered a non-life-threatening gunshot wound and was taken to an area hospital for treatment. Five men with non-life-threatening stab wounds were taken to area hospitals for treatment.  A young woman received lacerations and drove herself to a hospital, and another man was punched with a blunt object and did not require transport.
