BALTIMORE (WMAR) - After a Thanksgiving meal and catching big deals on Black Friday, chances are picking out a tree is next on your holiday to do list.

ABC2 is working for you with tips on picking out the right tree and how to make it last.

According to the United States Fire Administration , needles on fresh trees should be green and hard to pull back from the branches.

Additionally, the trunk of the tree should be sticky.

After you pick out the tree, it is important to keep it away from heat sources and well-hydrated with water.

Tree experts remind you to think tree safety when buying a fresh or artificial tree to keep the holidays safe for your family, yourself, and your friends.
