A local father will head to Washington D.C. on Wednesday to ask for stricter rules for truck drivers.
Ed Slattery's wife was killed and his two sons critically injured in a devastating crash last year.
Slattery plans to share his heartbreaking story with members of Congress.
Last year his life was turned upside down. A truck driver fell asleep at the wheel and rear ended his wife's car on an Ohio interstate.
His wife Susan, a Stevenson professor was killed and his two sons Peter and Matthew were critically injured.
The family has been fighting to recover.
Slattery hopes Congress will reform truck driving laws by putting a cap on the number of service hours a trucker is allowed to drive and extending off-duty rest times.
Slattery hopes stricter regulations will prevent others from going through the same tragedy his family has had to endure.
His son Matthew was permanently disabled in the crash.
