CLEAR SPRING, Md. - Crews in Washington County have freed a man trapped deep inside a cave.
Rescue crews were called to the 13500 block of Cresspond Road in Clear Spring just after 5:30 this evening for the rescue mission.
A man believed to be in his 20's, was in the cave as part of an explorers group and down about 250 or 300 feet, when he somehow got stuck on a ledge and became trapped between some rocks.
Washington County Rescue teams are trying to get the man, who is not believe to be badly injured, out of the cave and back up to safety.
After about 5 and 1/2 hours, the man was successfully removed from the cave, and is currently being flown to a local hospital for treatment.
At one point there were about 75 rescue team members from Washington County, Frederick County, Advance Technical Rescue and Montgomery County all on the scene.
