Couple charged in child sex offenses

MECHANICSVILLE, Md. (WMAR) - A St. Mary's County couple have been charged in connection to the sexual assault of a minor child that they knew.

Police initiated an investigation regarding alleged sex offenses committed involving a minor which took place from January 2010 through June 2010 on August 2, 2012.

The investigation revealed that Gregory S. Morgan, 24 of Mechanicsville and Sherry Knott, 32, of no fixed address engaged in various sexual acts with a minor child who was known to them.

Knott was arrested and charged with second degree sex offense, engaging in a continuing course of conduct over a period of 90 days or more with the victim being under 14-years-old, sexual abuse of a minor and fourth degree sex offense.

Morgan was charged with second degree rape, third and fourth degree sex offense. Morgan is a Tier III registered sex offender.

Knott is being held inder a $5,000 bond.
