Baltimore Gas and Electric presented more than $300,000 in grants to emergency response organizations throughout central Maryland Wednesday.

The new grant program recognizes long-standing company support of and partnership with emergency responders and other emergency services organizations.

Among those receiving funds from the program were representatives from approximately 40 volunteer fire departments and emergency preparedness , response and safety organizations across Maryland who received a 2012 BGE Emergency Responders Safety Grant.

In late 2012, BGE launched the new grant program designed specifically for emergency response and safety organizations.

Eligible organizations that provide emergency services support throughout BGE's central Maryland service area - either preparedness or response and recovery - were encouraged to apply for a single grant of up to $10,000.
