MYERSVILLE, Md. (AP) -

Frederick County authorities say two young sisters are dead and five people are hospitalized after a fire near Myersville.

Sheriff's Cpl. Jennifer Bailey said Friday that the 3- and 6-year-old girls were trapped in the burning home on Highland Avenue late Thursday night. She says firefighters couldn't reach them because of the volume of fire and instability of the structure.

County fire marshal spokesman Mike Dmuchowski (dee-moo-CHOW'-ski) told The Frederick News-Post the girls were sisters.

Bailey says all the home's occupants were related. She says the 39-year-old father was taken to MedStar Washington Hospital Center. She says an 8-year-old girl was taken to Children's National Medical Center in Washington.

Bailey says the 33-year-old mother, a 7-month-old infant and a Middletown volunteer firefighter were taken to Frederick Memorial Hospital.
