WASHINGTON (AP) - D.C. police say 11 people have been taken to the hospital after a drive-by shooting outside an apartment complex in northwest Washington.

Assistant Police Chief Peter Newsham says 11 people reported some sort of injury in the Monday morning shooting on North Capitol Street.

He says one man was seriously wounded but no one suffered life-threatening injuries. All of the victims were reported to be conscious, breathing and stable.

The shooting took place around 2 a.m. in the 1200 block of North Capitol Street, NW. Newsham says shots were fired from two cars that were speeding down the road.

He says police don't have a motive yet and still need to interview many witnesses. Detectives were at the scene Monday gathering evidence.
