BALTIMORE - The Third Annual Domestic Violence Symposium kicks off at the University of Maryland Baltimore. A number of speakers will be on hand for the event including Maryland's First Lady Katie O'Malley and Sharon Love.
She is the mother of Yeardley Love, the college athlete who was murdered by a former boyfriend. She will speak at the violence symposium held by the School of Social Work.
Sharon Love started a Baltimore Based Foundation in memory of Yeardley that attempts to reduce relationship violence. This is also the goal of several noted speakers including two authors, Leslie Morgan Steiner, author of Crazy Love, a New York Times Best seller and Evan Stark, author of Coercive Control.
Maryland's First Lady, Katie O'Malley will speak at a luncheon bringing a perspective from the Baltimore City District Court.
The event starts at 8:30 Wednesday morning followed by a luncheon at noon on the University of Maryland Baltimore campus on Lombard Street in downtown Baltimore.
