Sony has gotten in touch with theater owners to let them know they've decided to stop paying for disposable 3-D glasses to be handed out before movies.
If the glasses will still be given out, it's not clear who would be responsible for paying for them.
It could end up falling on theater owners who have already had to shell out billions of dollars worth of 3-D equipment just to play the movies.
Another possibility would be for consumers to foot the bill.
Moviegoers may end up having to pay for the glasses, and keep them for future trips.
