COLUMBIA, Md. - A Columbia woman was hospitalized in critical condition after police say she crashed her car into the guardrail and then struck another car on Route 32 Tuesday night.

Mary Ann Cecile Levant, 64, was traveling east on Route 32 at Route 29 when she lost control of her 2003 Toyota Avalon. She crashed into the guardrail before hitting a 1996 Ford Explorer driven by 41-year-old Richie Junior Burgess.

Levant was taken to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center where she is currently listed in critical condition.

Burgess was not hurt in the crash.

Police say speed may be to blame for the crash.

An investigation is ongoing.
