ELLICOTT CITY - It's almost been a year since a train derailment in Historic Ellicott City killed two teenaged girls. A memorial run is planned for this weekend in their honor.
Proceeds from the "2 Miles 2 Hearts" run will go to the Elizabeth Nass Memorial Scholarship, the Howard Hospital Foundation for the Rose Mayr Nursing Scholarship and the Howard County Fire and Rescue Services, according to organizers.
The race will start at 8:30 a.m. Saturday on Court House Drive. You can register on the day of the race for $35.
Nass and Mayr died when a CSX train carrying coal derailed while crossing the bridge over Main Street in Historic Ellicott City last August. The girls were buried under the coal.
