SCAGGSVILLE, Md. - A man is in critical condition after he was hit by a car while trying to give a jump start to a disabled vehicle.
Police say around 10:15 Friday night Edem Assogba, 22, of Baltimore was positioning his car on the shoulder of Rt. 29 in Scaggsville in order to give a another car a hot shot, when his car entered the northbound lane and was hit head on by a Toyota.
Assogba was flown to Shock Trauma in critical condition. The driver of the Toyota was taken to Howard County General Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
North and southbound US Rt. 29 between MD Rt. 216 and Johns Hopkins Road were closed to traffic until 11:45 PM as part of rescue operations, investigation, and cleanup. Vehicles were detoured onto secondary roads during the temporary closure.
The crash is being investigated.
