COLUMBIA, Md. - The Mall in Columbia is about to get bigger. Howard County officials are breaking ground today on the center's expansion project.
The plan is to redevelop 30,000 square feet and will add an additional 40,000 square feet to the mall's existing 1.6 million square foot blueprint, according to mall officials. The new portion of the mall will have an open-air feel to it and new merchants and restaurants.
The expansion project is part of the Downtown Columbia 30-Year Master Plan, which will include 13 million square feet of retail, commercial and residential development.
