JESSUP, Md. - Howard County firefighters battled an early morning blaze at a Jessup liquor store Monday.
Fire officials said that just after 4:30 a.m. firefighters and paramedics were called to the 7900 block of Waterloo Road for a report of a fire at Mel’s Liquors. When crews arrived, the store was engulfed and filled with heavy smoke. Howard County firefighters doused the flames in just 10 minutes with help from crews from Prince George’s and Anne Arundel Counties.
No one was injured in the fire. Fire investigators are working to determine the cause.
Waterloo Road at the intersection of Dorsey Run Road and Oceano Drive was closed to traffic for approximately two hours. The roads have since been reopened.
