WOODSTOCK, Md. (WMAR) - Howard County officials are trying to figure out what caused a train to derail early this afternoon.

Just after 12:45 p.m., a combination of firefighters, paramedics and special operation units responded to the 1400 block of Woodstock Road for reports of a train derailment.

Upon their arrival, units determined that one CSX train car partially derailed. Even though the train car had only been off the the tracks for a short time, the train blocked the intersection of Woodstock Road.

There were no reports of any injuries and no hazardous materials were involved, but residents in the nearby homes were evacuated.
