CONOWINGO, Md. - One person has died and another person was seriously injured after a crash at the Conowingo Dam in Harford County Monday morning.
According to the Maryland State Police, Bel Air Barracks, the crash happened around 6:00 a.m. and Route 1 was closed in both directions over the Dam for several hours.
A police spokesperson says the crash happened as a Honda Civic, driven by 28 year old Anila Vadala from Philadelphia, Pa. was traveling northbound on Conowingo Road at about Shuresville Road, when the driver lost control and went into the southbound lanes.
The Civic was subsequently hit by a Ford Ranger driven by Carl Absher of Drumore Pa.
Vadala was transported to Upper Chesapeake Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Police say speed nor alcohol appear to be a contributing factor in the crash. Investigators are still trying to figure out what caused the driver to lose control.
